The Ramakrishna Vedanta Ashrama of São Paulo was founded in 1974, and officially affiliated to the Ramakrishna Order, Belumath, Headquarters in 1999. The center promotes the Vedanta philosophy through lectures, weekly scriptural classes, publications, devotional chants, spiritual counselling, meditation, periodic spiritual retreats, philanthropic service and the celebration of religious festivals. 

Aarati & Meditation

When the sunsets, the Swami's and devotees gather together in temple to perform Aarati (evening vesper service) singing hymns and devotional songs lasting for 30 minutes followed by meditation and reading of sacred texts. 

This prayer ceremony is an expression of devotion towards the Supreme deity.

Evening Vesper service      - 6.30 pm to 7.30pm (Daily)

All are welcome to participate.

Weekly Lectures

The spiritual talks on various aspects of Vedanta philosophy, Yoga, Religion, Psychology, Human excellence and other related topics are given by the Resident Swami. 

Saturdays - 5.30 pm (Specific themes)

Sunday      - 7.30 pm (Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna)

Study of Sacred Scriptures

The sacred texts are the source of profound spiritual truths.  Vedanta philosophy acknowledges three authoritative primary texts - Upanishads, Brahma Sutras and Bhagavad-Gita. The teachings of these texts are studied systematically explained by the resident Swami. 

Wednesday - 7.30PM to 8.30pm

Sacred text - Bhagavad-Gita (Presently being studied)

Duration - 1 hour

Admission is free.

Chanting and Devotional Singing
​Shiva Mahimna Stotra

Spiritual practice in Vedanta includes Prayers, chants and hymns & devotional singing. Shiva Mahimna Stotra, a sacred hymn in praise of Lord Shiva is chanted every Monday. Devotional songs praising God or affirming our spiritual identity are sung on other week days.

Weekdays                  - Devotional singing

Appointment with the Swami

We welcome all sincere aspirants who seek guidance in Vedanta and spiritual matters. Revered Swami Nirmalatmanandaji maharaj gives spiritual guidance in matters of prayers, meditation instructions to deepen their spiritual life.

It is expected to have acquainted with the basic ideas of the Vedanta & Ramakrishna Vivekananda literature before seeking appointment. 

 Sincere aspirant can make appointment either by writing e-mail or by contacting office.

Puja and celebrations

The Vedanta Centre observes six important celebrations annually. The celebrations include the ritualistic worship, Homa (worship with consecrated fire), prayer, sacred reading, devotional music, floral offerings and partaking of offered prasad.

Six Celebration events - Birth anniversary of Ramakrishna, Sri Maa Sarada Devi , Swami Vivekananda, Guru Poornima, Sri Sri Durga puja and Christmas Eve.

Book Store & Magazine Publication

The Editora Vedanta is registered book publisher since 2000. The Centre has published 10 titles up till now including Swami Vivekananda's Four Yogas - Karma, Bhakti, Jnana and Raja Yoga.

The Centre also publishes the Magazine 'Global Vedanta' exclusively in Portuguese since 2013. It is a quarterly magazine published to spread the spiritual message of Vedanta. 

The books and magazine are available for sales at the bookstore and also made available for online purchase.

Spiritual Retreat

Periodic spiritual retreats are held at Embu-Guaçu, a retreat place located 42km in the midst of silent nature from the São Paulo city.

Retreats are held with Swami's in which guided meditation, out-door yoga, spiritual talks, philosophical discussions, question and answer sessions, practice of silence are practiced.

Retreat dates and schedules are announced in advance

Participation is subject to prior registration.

Social Service

The Vedanta Centre offers assistance to the most affected poor families by distributing basic food basket monthly. During Christmas one hundred families receive special food basket kit. Started eight years ago, Ashrama devotees and volunteers are carrying this project ahead by serving devotedly, selflessly and with dedication.
