Magazine published by Ramakrishna Vedanta Ashrama
Swami Vivekananda was very much interested in starting journals to spread the ideas of Practical Vedanta and the message of Sri Ramakrishna. Under his inspiration, a group of his disciples in Madras, including G. Venkataranga Rao, M.C. Nanjunda Rao and Alasinga Perumal, started on 14 September 1895 a monthly magazine called Brahmavadin. He encouraged his own brother-disciple Swami Trigunatitananda to start a journal in Bengali. Among the journals started during the lifetime of Swami Vivekananda were: Brahmavadin , Pacific Vedantin (from USA), and Prabuddha Bharata, all in English, and Udbodhan in Bengali. Some of these journals are still thriving after 100 years.
Inspired by this idea, Ramakrishna Vedanta Ashrama brought out its first Magazine ‘ Global Vedanta’ exclusively in Portuguese in the year 2000. This ‘Global Vedanta’ journal is published quarterly to promote a spiritual and harmonious outlook towards life and to share the teachings of Vedanta.
It contains articles on Indian spiritual traditions and scriptures, mainly focusing on Vedanta as expounded by Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda, the illustrious disciple of Sri Ramakrishna.
The subjects covered in the monthly issues include an editorial, articles on the life and Vedantic message of Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda, the life and message of saints from all traditions, articles on scriptures, philosophy, and self-improvement, special features on temples, forts, and cultural events, review of latest books published in religion, philosophy, culture and self-improvement news about the service activities carried out by world-wide centres of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission.

Testimonials
Give Five, Wave Five
“One thing I have been doing is making a R$5 donation at the grocery check-out every time I shop now. Food banks are struggling, and even with my husband closing his acupuncture clinic we can afford $5. It's small, but it feels good. Another micro-action I have been doing is waving and saying hi to neighbors, through the window if they walk by or across the street if we are outside shoveling snow or taking out trash at the same time. We have a number of older neighbors too, and isolation is hard. Small acts of kindness go a long way.” – Karilyn
The Start of Something New
“Some friends and I got together to create a fundraising initiative to support COVID-19 relief efforts. Would super appreciate it if folks would consider contributing and also sharing with your networks! Thank you.” –Rebecca B.
